Our Approach
Our goal is to support you in being your healthiest self.
At Carrie DeJong & Associates, our goal is to provide you with an environment that offers the tools, support, and hope you need to move forward in your life.
Our approach is informed by somatic therapies that help us understand our mind-body connection. Polyvagal Theory also provides a helpful way of understanding ourselves. Carrie has completed significant training with Deb Dana, one of the leading experts in understanding our nervous system through the lens of Polyvagal Theory.
Our Core Beliefs
We have an intrinsic capacity for growth and change.
The healing process is enhanced when we can bring greater regulation to our autonomic nervous system.
Understanding ourselves helps us make sense of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
When we have the support needed, we can move through difficult life experiences and change unhelpful patterns
We offer secure virtual sessions to people in British Columbia. We have limited in-person sessions available in Vancouver or Kelowna.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer therapeutic services to people outside of Canada.

What We Can Help With
Trauma
Addiction
Anxiety:
Anxiety is something we all experience – it’s an inevitable part of life, but there are times when it interferes with living. Overwhelming anxiety can lead to symptoms such as sleep difficulties, intrusive thoughts, avoidance behaviours, or the misuse of drugs or alcohol. The good news is that there is help for anxiety. Numerous tools can help you lower debilitating anxiety, conquer your fears, and help you enjoy your life more fully.
Depression:
Depression is associated with a sense of hopelessness or having no solution to a painful situation. It can lead to a loss of interest in life and a deep sense of isolation. It can leave you caught in a cycle of negative thinking, despair, and hopelessness. Therapy is about finding where hope still exists and building on it. The support of a therapist can help you explore the struggles but find ways to connect with what still works in your life.
Grief and Loss:
Grief is part of our human experience, but we tend to avoid grieving our losses. Often, unhealthy behaviours or addictions are an attempt to avoid our grief. Allowing ourselves to grieve losses instead of denying or minimizing them is how we heal from the past and move forward into hope and new possibilities.
We aim to provide the tools, support and hope you need to move forward in your healing journey.
Therapy Works
We all desire to discover and live out of the best parts of who we are. But sometimes, we want to explore those parts of ourselves where we have struggles or pain. Perhaps you need help stopping unhealthy patterns or behaviours.
Therapy can make a difference – whether you are experiencing the negative impacts of trauma, struggling with an unhealthy behaviour or addiction, or seeking new tools to be the best version of yourself.
If you or someone you love needs support - we can offer help.
